The Office of Premier in Eastern Cape, in partnership with the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sectorr Education and Training Authority (merSETA), is calling all unemployed youth across the Eastern Cape province to apply to be trained as qualified artisans.

About MerSETA:
The Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (MERSETA) is one of 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) established in South Africa to promote skills development in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998. MERSETA's main role is to identify scarce skills in the sector, develop and accredit training programs to meet the needs of the industry, provide funding for skills development initiatives, monitor the quality of training and advocate for the importance of skills development to government, businesses and individuals.
ABOUT THE MERSETA APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMMES
MerSETA has a large number of various apprenticeship programmes to accommodate every young person in the Eastern Cape Province. MERSETA apprenticeship programmes are structured workplace learning programmes that combine theoretical knowledge with practical on-the-job training. They allow individuals to gain the skills and qualifications needed to become qualified artisans in a trade recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). The apprenticeship programmes will run for a period of 3 years.
